Frank's interest in hot pepper sauce began when he contracted with the Louisiana pepper baron Adam Estellet to grow and cure red peppers for a sauce made from whole peppers and brine. Recognizing that there was more to pepper sauce than just heat, Frank began to experiment with Louisiana Sunlongs, a superior strain of cayenne pepper.
