  • 1 lb. Bacon, cut crosswise into 1-inch pieces
  • 5 lbs. Spanish onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Thyme, dried
  • 3/4 cup CATTLEMEN'S® Gold Barbecue Sauce
  • 1/2 cup FRANK'S® REDHOT® Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
  • 10 each Hamburger patties (4 to 6 ounces)
  • as needed CATTLEMEN'S® Gold Barbecue Sauce
  • 10 each Muenster cheese slices (1 ounce)
  • 10 each Hamburger buns
  • 10 each Leaf lettuce leaves
  • 10 each Tomato slices


  • 1. Cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon; drain well, reserving 1/2 cup drippings.
  • 5. Place burger on bottom of roll, lined with lettuce and tomato. Top with burger and 1/3 cup onion mixture. Cover with top of bun.
  • 2. Add onions to drippings in pan, cover and cook over medium-low heat until softened, about 30 minutes. Stir occasionally. <br>
  • 3. Increase heat to medium and stir in sugar and thyme. Cook, uncovered, about 20 minutes until onions are caramelized, stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in BBQ Sauce, RedHot, and bacon. Keep warm until service.
  • 4. To prepare each burger, grill hamburger patty, brushing generously with BBQ Sauce near end of cooking. Top with cheese slice and heat until melted.
